ARGOS TO HOST ROUGHRIDERS IN EASTERN FINAL THIS SUNDAY
TORONTO – The Toronto Argonauts are set to host to the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the CFL’s Eastern Final this Sunday, November 19, at 1:00 pm, in the first-ever Argos playoff game at BMO Field.
The Argos (9-9) finished first in the East Division and earned a bye during the first week of the playoffs, while the Roughriders (10-8) traveled to Ottawa and defeated the Redblacks 31-20 this past Sunday to advance to the Eastern Final.
Argos Head Coach Marc Trestman will be in familiar territory, coaching in his fifth Eastern Final in six seasons as a CFL head coach. In four previous divisional finals, he owns a 3-1 record and is 2-0 against West Division crossover teams.
Since the East Division adopted the one-game Division Final format in 1973 – one year after the West – the Argos have played in 18 single-game divisional final games with a record of 8-10. The Riders have played in 14 of such games, posting an 8-6 all-time record.
Before the action starts in the stadium, the pre-game party starts with a special breakfast Argos Tailgate in the Ontario Place parking lot. Beginning at 9:00 a.m, fans can park their cars, bring their BBQs and tailgate for hours before the game, which has become an Argos tradition. Fans can purchase beer, coolers, and caesars for $4 starting at 9:00 am.
Live music phenomenon Dwayne Gretzky will rock the tailgate starting at 10:45 a.m., before heading over to the stadium to perform the Canadian National Anthem, which will be followed by a flyover from a Hercules C-130 aircraft.
Media wishing to go live from tailgate are asked to send an email to Jamie Dykstra at [email protected] by Friday, November 17 at 5:00 pm.
Tickets to the Eastern Final are on-sale now and can be purchased at Argonauts.ca.
