ARGOS RB JAMES WILDER JR. NAMED CFL TOP PERFORMER IN WEEK 13

WILDER CREDITS OFFENSIVE LINE WITH AWARD

TORONTO - Toronto Argonauts running back James Wilder Jr. has been named a CFL Top Performer of the Week for Week 13.

Wilder Jr. compiled 257 combined yards on just 18 touches, 190 on the ground and 67 receiving, to go along with a touchdown in a 34-26 victory over the Edmonton Eskimos on Saturday. This is Wilder Jr.’s first career CFL Top Performer honour.

Wilder’s 190 rushing yards in a single game were good for fourth all-time in Argonauts history. His 76-yard run for a touchdown in the second quarter marked Wilder’s first career CFL touchdown and the longest carry in the CFL this season.

Wilder, a Florida State product, has been vocal about wanting to share this honour with the guys blocking for him. He was quick to heap praise on the Argos offensive line, who he credited with doing an outstanding job opening holes for Wilder to run through on his career day.

“None of what we accomplished on Saturday would have been possible without the work the offensive line put in,” said Wilder. “They were outstanding and I have to give them the credit.”

Five Argos players have accounted for seven Top Performer of the Week honours so far this season:
