ARGOS POST-GAME NOTES: WEEK 15 at HAMILTON

TALE OF THE GAME: 

• The Toronto Argonauts (7-7-0) improved to .500 on the season with a 43-35 road win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (3-10-0). The win was the Argos’ first at Tim Hortons Field since first playing there on Labour Day in 2014.
• The victory gives the Argos the season-ending tiebreaker with all three East Division teams. They now hold a three-point lead atop the East Division with four games remaining in the regular season.

WORTH NOTING:

• Ohio State product DeVier Posey hauled in seven passes for 104 yards and two touchdowns in the game, giving him a total of 19 catches for 298 yards and five touchdowns in three games against Hamilton in 2017. Posey’s first touchdown set up a game-tying two-point conversion in the fourth quarter while his second score proved to be the game-winner in overtime.
• Rookie RB/KR Martese Jackson took a first-quarter punt back 92 yards for his second punt return touchdown of the season and his third total kick return touchdown of 2017. Jackson averaged 15.9 yards per punt return on the night.
• Second-year receiver Armanti Edwards caught his fourth touchdown pass of the season in the second quarter. He ranks second on the team with 61 receptions and 736 receiving yards through 13 games in Double Blue.
• Justin Tuggle, who has seen time at both defensive end and linebacker for the Argos this season, brought down Ticats QB Jeremiah Masoli in the second quarter while forcing a fumble on the play. It was the first-year Argo’s first career sack and first career forced fumble. Tuggle’s second sack of the game forced the Ticats into a must-convert 3^rd-and-15 during overtime.
• Defensive tackle Dylan Wynn got after the quarterback twice in the game as well, notching his fifth and sixth sacks of the 2017 season.
• Lirim Hajrullahu hit a 47-yard field goal in the fourth quarter of Saturday’s game, moving into sole possession of sixth on the Argos’ all-time field goals list (74). After kicking another field goal in the fourth, Hajrullahu extended his current streak to eight straight successful field goals.
• Marcus Ball tied for the team lead in defensive tackles (5) while also adding a special teams tackle and a fumble recovery.
• Running back James Wilder Jr. carried the ball 13 times for 49 yards on the night while adding three receptions for 32 yards. The rookie back punched the ball into the end zone on both the game-tying two-point conversion and the team’s overtime conversion.
