ARGOS KICKOFF 2017 SEASON AGAINST RIVAL TIGER-CATS SUNDAY AFTERNOON

**The Shipyard & Tailgate to Combine Forces in 2017**

TORONTO – After a busy off-season, the Toronto Argonauts kick-off the 2017 season against their storied rivals, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at BMO Field on Sunday afternoon at 4:00pm ET.

The new era of Argos Football, led by newly hired General Manager Jim Popp and Head Coach Marc Trestman, will officially gets underway when the Boatmen take the field with a revamped roster on Sunday.

Riding a productive training camp and pre-season, Argos starting quarterback Ricky Ray will be back in action for his 15th season in the CFL and sixth with the Double Blue. Ray, who enters Sunday afternoon’s matchup against Hamilton with a number of new targets at his disposal, is just four touchdowns shy of becoming the sixth QB in CFL history to hit the 300 mark.

Sunday afternoon will also see newcomers SJ Green, Bear Woods, and former Ticats Rico Murray and Johnny Sears Jr. get their first taste of action in the Big Smoke.

Outside the stadium and prior to kickoff, tailgating and The Shipyard return to the pre-game line-up, but this year they will be joining forces to create the ultimate party. Tailgating at the Shipyard will be held at the Ontario Place parking lot and will once again invite fans to fire up their grills and offer $4 ice cold beer and drinks, as well as a selection of food truck options. Tailgating at the Shipyard will be open at Noon on Sunday.

Media planning to broadcast live from the tailgate are asked to notify the Argonauts communications staff ASAP.

Here is what else is happening around the stadium:

  • New this year is a DJ Booth in the south end zone stands, taking music and atmosphere throughout the stadium.
  • The North End Zone Patio will open 90 minutes prior kickoff where fans can enjoy food and drinks with a variety of food trucks.
  • Tailgating at the Shipyard opens at Noon at the Ontario Place parking lot #2.
  • After the game, Argos Kids’ Club members are invited to come onto the field after the game and meet their favourite players. Parents can sign their kids up for the Kids’ Club by visiting https://www.argonauts.ca/kidsclub/.
