ARGOS ACQUIRE WR S.J. GREEN IN TRADE WITH ALS

Green to attend Argos mini-camp at IMG Academy next week

TORONTO – The Toronto Argonauts have acquired international all-star receiver S.J. Green from the Montreal Alouettes in exchange for the Argos sixth round selection in the 2017 CFL Draft and a conditional draft pick in 2018.

Green, a 6-2, 216-pound native of Brandon, Florida, will enter his 11th CFL season in 2017, having spent the last decade with the Montreal Alouettes. The South Florida product has 444 receptions for 6,626 yards and 42 touchdowns in 116 career CFL games. The two-time Grey Cup Champion, five-time East Division All-Star and 2013 CFL All-Star eclipsed the 1,000-yard receiving mark four times with the Alouettes, with the most recent coming in 2015 when he hauled in 71 passes for 1,036 yard and three majors.

“S.J. is a dynamic playmaker and a proven winner who gives our offence another weapon and brings veteran leadership to our locker room,” said Jim Popp, General Manager for the Toronto Argonauts. “We are excited to welcome S.J. to the Argos family and look forward to seeing him in Double Blue.”

The Argos hit the field next week for the first time under new Head Coach Marc Trestman as they hold their off-season mini-camp at the IMG campus in Bradenton, Florida. Green will join the team in Florida, but his on-field participation will be limited as he continues to recover from a knee injury he suffered in 2016.

“We are very comfortable with the progress S.J. has made rehabilitating his knee and according to his doctors he is on schedule to be ready for training camp," said Popp.
