TORONTO – The Toronto Argonauts announced Tuesday that the team has added Canadian linebacker Curtis Newton to the practice roster.

Newton, a 6-2, 220-pound native of London, Ontario, returns to the Argos for his second stop with the club. Selected by Toronto in the fifth round (40th overall) of the 2016 CFL Draft, the Guelph product played in 18 games, including 16 in his rookie season, before being released on July 11. Following his release, Newton signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on July 25, appearing in five games in Black and Gold. In 23 career CFL games, he has tallied seven special teams tackles, all of which came wearing Double Blue.
